There are multiple artists using the name Shining.

1.A Swedish depressive black metal band. Their lyrics deal mainly with self-destruction and suicide. Their live act contains large amounts of self-mutilation that they invite the audience to take part in.

2. A Norwegian band. It started as an experimental jazz group in 1998, and has since evolved to include jazz/metal/progressive sounds. Winner of the Alarm Award in both 2006 (for "In The Kingdom Of Kitsch You Will Be A Monster") and 2007 (for "Grindstone").

3. There was a British indie band who went by the same name, who released a couple of singles, most notable the song "Danger", and an album in the early 00's. then little more was heard from them since.

4. The name was used sometimes by Julian Beeston of Nitzer Ebb for a small amount of solo work, mostly remixes.

5. There is a Polish experimental death metal band which has released only a demo in 2003.
