One of the most essentials black metal bands of Rio de Janeiro city, Unearthly was formed in the end of 1998, with M. Mictian on bass and Lord Thoth on vocals. After some line-up changes, they record the first demo in 2000, "Blessed Are The Destroyers Of False Hope", and the second demo came one year after (2001), "Living Under The Sign Of Blasphemy". Both works had a good adoption by the scene and good reviews and they made a lot of live performances in Brazil. Soon they made a contract with Encore Records, which released "Infernum – Prelude To A New Reign" in 2002. This album was also released in USA and Canada, through the American label Crash Music Records. It was highely scored in many brazilian metal magazines. After perform in many brazilian cities and in the most important metal brazilian festivals, UNEARTHLY start to record their second album. Released in the end of 2003, "Black Metal Commando" sounded more death metal-like, but still with typical black metal elements. They had such a good reply, that they performed live with the American death metal band Malevolent Creation,Behemoth,Hate Eternal,Iconoclasm and Sepultura in Rio de Janeiro. In the middle of 2004, Lord Thoth, co-foundador and singer left the band, and the place was taken over by Agares, performing in all the "War Massacre Tour" in 2004, leaving the band just after that. Some line-up tests passed by and UNEARTHLY returns with a bigger strength, resulting from the synergy of the old members with the new ones. The current line-up is: Eregion on vocals, Dennie Arawn on guitar, M. Mictian on bass and M.Cult on drums. They intend to release a new ep called "Unmercyful Personalized Bestiality", including their remastered demos, three live songs and two unreleased songs.
