The band was founded by Dohnal brothers (Yarda – guitar, Jiri – drums) and few mads from Prague suburbs in 1997. Everybody asks where their name, Poppy Seed Grinder, came from. The inspiration was hidden in their mom's food store (picture of present food store will be added soon:o) and of course nobody spoke english at that time… First demo „Brutallized“ was released in 1998, with czech lyrics and since then, the band has moved forward a lot. Second unnamed demo 2000 is forestalling change of the line-up, first gigs abroad (Switzerland), big festivals in the Czech republic (Obscene Extreme, Brutal Assault) and recording contract at Grodhaisn prod for a split CD with german Defeated Sanity called „Talk Evolution“ in 2002. Since that time, the guys from Poppy Seed Grinder are touring all around Europe:
Tour in 2003 with czech Cerebral Turbulency (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, Czech republic)
Gig in Pilsn with Vader and Krisiun
Tour in 2004 with swiss Cropment and finnish Deepred (Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, France and Swithzeland)
Many more czech gigs (including once again Obscene Extreme and Brutal Assault fests) supported the release of their first regular CD at Khaaranus prod called „Oppressed Reality“ in 2004. The tour in 2005 covered Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italia, Slovenia, Croatia and Autstria and was supported by czech Alienation Mental.

News - the band's line-up has changed - the original drummer (Jiri) returned, and a new bass-guitarist (Ota) came. Foreign fans have a chance to see them first - in Strassbourg at the Depth of Winter fest.
