SLOW HORSE BIOGRAPHY
New York's Slow Horse is one of the slowest, sludgiest bands to emerge in some time. Their debut album is six tracks of downtuned, depressive stoner/doom (akin to early St. Vitus) with emotive vocals from leader Dan Bukszpan that are often reminiscent of the great Wino of Obsessed/Spirit Caravan fame. Included is an inventive cover of the Chris Isaak classic "Wicked Game", here turned into a sludgy dirge. Not exactly a party album, but very, very heavy and very, very cool. Three years later, Bukszpan and a new crew released the second Slow Horse effort -- while still ultra-slow and doomy, the style here is less dirgy and a bit more varied in feel, melancholy but not dreary, a fine slice of stoom (that's stoner doom). As of July 2003 the band is on an extended break for personal reasons.
