Red Dawn is a four-piece rock band comprised of four friends. Having gone through a host of name-changes and line-ups since their genesis circa 2002, as it stands the band is comprised of three founding members: Jonny Carlin (Guitar), Scott Farenden (Bass), & Jamie Glover (Drums). In the summer of 2004, friend of the band and occasional guest vocalist Laurie Johnson was invited to fill the role of lead singer on a permanent basis. Not long after, the line-up was complete, with Carlin being re-instated (after a long period spent away with his own band, the now split-up Zulu) in place of an interim guitarist after it became apparent she no longer wanted to carry on. A few months later, what with all the changes being rung, the dawn of a new, more settled era was signalled with the eventual decision on the name Red Dawn. Red Dawn draw on a number of musical influences. From artists such as Guns N' Roses, Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more recently The Who and Pink Floyd, Red Dawn combine these styles to create songs that should appeal to people with similar tastes in music to theirs. Original lyrics and skillfull bass riffs are the cornerstone of their sound, with impressive guitar and drum work complimenting these to great effect. The band are in something of a hiatus at present due to University commitments. Therefore practice sessions, and gigs, are few and far between. However, the holiday months are looked forward to with relish, as they see it as an opportunity to continue writing and honing their performance.
