MIDNATTSOL BIOGRAPHY
Midnattsol is a symphonic/folk metal band from Germany/Norway. The members are vocalist Carmen Elise Espenæs (younger sister of Liv Kristine Espenæs Krull of Leaves' Eyes and ex-Theatre of Tragedy), bassist Birgit Öllbrunner, drummer Chris Merzinsky, keyboard player Daniel Fischer and guitarists Daniel Droste and Christian Hector. Their sound is essentialy symphonic metal, with some folk influences in the melodies. Their lyrics are largely based on Norwegian folk tales. They have released one full-length album, Where Twilight Dwells; they are expecting to release a new album towards the end of 2006.
Midnattsol means 'midnight sun' in Norwegian. They prefer to call their style 'Nordic Folk Metal' because of the folk elements in their music and occasional Norwegian lyrics.
