MADWORK BIOGRAPHY
Formed in 1996, Madwork are a progressive metal band hailing from Italy. The band is comprised of baritone vocalist Jago, drummer Dr. Ums, D.D. Jork on guitars with keyboards and programming done by Luca and Trigger on bass. The band has a dynamic sound, with influences spanning from heavy metal pioneers Iron Maiden to prog metal legends Dream Theater and other eclectic styles from gothic (Depeche Mode, Paradise Lost), post-rock to guitar-driven pop (U2). They have been compared in recent times to progressive metal bands Pain of Salvation and Evergrey.
Releasing two demos, "My Midnights" in 2001 and "Through the Farthest Times" in 2002 they won a "Best Original Composition" competition in the 2003 Asti Nuovi Rumori placing second overall. They persued a label signing, self-financing their "demo album", "Leaving all Behind" in 2004. It recieved moderate critical acclaim, hindered only due to production difficulties. In 2005, they released their debut album "Overflow." The disc was financed by Self Distribuzione and Le Parc Music and produced by Paolo "Deadbongo" Pasquariello. The CD garnered high and enthusiastic praise in a variety of webzines and publications.
"Overflow" was selected as the best album by Italian webzine Metal Empire and achieved a #4 position on the international metal webzine Harm.us in their Writers' Choice Awards for 2005.
