Long ago, I roamed the lands of man
as a bitter, frowning wretched mortal.
But always have I felt the hate within me
and at night I heard the call of the stones.
"Oh, Blackest of nights, I answer your call!
May the winds and the moon be my guide
as I leave this pathetic existence
in search of deep solitude and darkness profound..."
Many days did I wander
through forests vast and rivers deep
until at last the black gates loomed before me.
Into the mouth of the earth I descend.
And here I shall rule for many years.
In the absence of light I will learn to see.
Alone I stand in my kingdom of darkness and hate.
Now, at last, my soul is free...

I gaze into the endless black
and feel the presence of darkness absolute.
The silence is enthralling...
The air is cold and still...
O' blessed river,
far beneath the earth,
quintessence of the power,
o' shaper of the underworld...
Cold stone spires rise from the ground.
Raise your spears to the rocky sky.
This is my new kingdom,
my sacred solace...
In these halls of stone,
in solitude I reign forevermore...

I hear your footsteps in the distance...
for I am the watcher
and you have crossed into my realm.
Foolish human,
beware these shadowed caverns...
for so long have I yearned
to feed and to kill.
Innocent victim,
a fool you are to have lost your way...
for in the shadows I am waiting
and upon you I shall descend.
When your screams fade to silence,
I will howl my grim victory to the stones.
...and back to the shadows I will return...
...waiting patiently for the next lost soul
to wander my dark and twisted road...
