1. Cults Of Unreason
Living out your life of pain,
pretend to hide the sorrow
Who is there to guide me now?
Who is there who cares?
Cults of unreason deny,
promising love they can't give
Still, cults of unreason survive
Carving out your mind with their
emotional destruction
Giving up your free will to
established domination
Cults of unreason deny,
preaching against what you've known
Still, cults of unreason survive
Your life falls before your eyes
Depraved souls believing lies
Deriving fortunes from their faults
Defend yourself from their assaults
Force yourself to love their life
Take it as it follows
Mindless waste you have become,
fortuitous decay
Cults of unreason, promising love they can't give
Preaching destructive lies, destroys your life
A mocking religion betraying your honor for gold
Still, cults of unreason survive
2. Banished
Left to ourselves
behind our barricades,
an open wound
preys on our closed minds
We reach for the Self,
outstretched and falling
How can we see
when we are blind?
Banished
Assume control of life,
don't let it pass you by
Responsibility
is yours and you're not banished
When we're without being,
caught in nothingness,
greed goes unwashed
to our strychnine lord
I'll inherit this land
I'll inherit the wind
Will I last?
Lasts the will....
Banished
Assume control of life,
don't let it pass you by
Responsibility
is yours and you're not banished
Fall by the side
or stand away...
We yearn for the free
and we yearn to see
I'll inherit this land
I'll inherit the wind
But I will last
I am strong
3. Melanin
Melanin
means hardships stand
Memory
means it's not our land
But we try
to make life
worth living
Fear will mean
there's work to do
Motion
means we'll overcome
We'll overcome
But we try to make like
we try to make life
worth living
There comes a time when
I've got to ask you...
What did you do?
What will you do?
What have you done?
There comes a time when
I've got to ask you...
What have we done?
4. 12 Angry Men
A chosen few,
impartial for today
With a single word
we can put this man away
It seems so trivial
to those who sit in the box
But if the roles were reversed
would we want the same feelings?
Twelve different minds,
twelve different reasons
for wanting this trial to end
Twelve Angry Men:
but are we qualified?
The scene is set
We're in for a very long ride
A sea of testimony
drowns each juror with its tides
To ask for perfection
under pressure and limited time,
is to brew a vintage spirit
with the grapes off any vine
Day after day, the wheels of Justice keep turning
The more that we try, it seems the less we are learning
Day after day, the bridges crossed, we keep burning
As hard as the dimb may seem, we must continue yearning
Preservation of every Right
will keep the wheels spinning
forevermore
The coward's way out,
keep quiet and just agree
Or take the path not chosen,
and voice my discrepancy
Eleven fierce stares
But I know I can justify
It's a small price to pay
when we know we've done what's right
Twelve different minds,
twelve different reasons
for acting as we did
Twelve Angry Men:
but were we qualified?
5. Social Syndrome
Perfection is inhuman
To forgive
is divine
Diogenes
and his lantern
An honest man
he could not find
When they live up to the standards
that other people set,
they sell themselves short,
they settle for second best
A misanthropic lifestyle,
reclusion and contempt..
I use my mind, become myself,
don't fear what might come next
See the contagious phobia
spread through our streets
Realize no branch can bear
fruit on its own
Hope: in our hands
lies success or defeat
Pray we can cure...
Destroy the social syndrome
Quick to give an answer
when it's all in retrospect
Living with their prejudice,
ignorance feeds neglect
Misdirected logic,
their priorities are confused
Just living day to day for them is catch 22
Knowledge is our weapon
Faith provides a cure
We must believe in what we know is right,
believe in what is pure
If we vow to make a change
and open up our hearts,
we'll combat the social syndrome
and we're free to a new start
6. I Will Fight No More Forever
7. Novocaine Response
Self-stricken from their blinded eyes
What is their future?
Telling of the screams of Guernica
Is this our future?
Clutching at their medicated minds
Our neo-leaders
Choking in the novocaine response...
We are driven underground
by the novocaine response
Yet there must be hope to see
before the sadness screams
Novocaine relinquishing the future
for dying change and sadness screams
Novocaine denying us our crimes
As for hope: sadness screams
We are hidden by ourselves this time
What is our future?
Just like the war in '39
What was their future?
But where's the town of Guernica
If no one listens?
...New York or Moscow, it doesn't matter
We are driven underground
by the novocaine response
Yet there must be hope to see
before the sadness screams
Novocaine relinquishing the future
for dying change and sadness screams
Novocaine denying us our crimes
As for hope: sadness screams
A closed mind is paralysis:
a seething ignorance; a regulated sketch
The cancer bores its way inside:
an urgent need to kill; an urgent need to die
Sadness screams a loss of man:
denying us our fate;
enslaving of our tears
Responses dulled by leperous blinds:
a novocaine response for medicated
8. Testing Ground
Welcome home to Mother Earth
This is life not some rebirth
Can't spend my time awaiting something that may never come
Apathy, the thief of time;
I confess guilt of the crime
yet I refuse to act I place the blame on someone else
Sacrifice what I have,
fade to the past
or shall I take a stand
here in my world?
Fabric of my life unfolds,
must reach out and take a hold
I must prove a point
Can't watch the others pass me by
Gift of life or punishment?
Will I worship or resent?
Am I on a mission or is this what I deserve?
Cry insignificance
Surrender my life
or shall I take a stand
here in my world?
Should I ask the questions
of the things that I'm unsure
or should I take for granted
what I'm told to believe?
You must find out for yourself
There is no absolute
Belief is what you make it,
self-realized truth
Sacrifice what I have,
fade to the past
or shall I take a stand
here in my world?
9. Reworked
Stay in line, young man
We've got rules, you understand,
and it takes just one bad apple to spoil the bunch
Sameness is the key
Pride in mediocrity
And we can't afford to have you singled out
Suffer obedience
My chance to jump the fence
I will not be broken down
I will stand firm in my ground
Color inside the lines
Exile the brightest minds
I can see right through your plot
I am alive while you are not
We serve a common good
Your father always would
I am one and I am strong
I can see I don't belong
We have you on file
Come now, we don't beguile
I will hold on to myself
I give in to no one else...
I thought I'd change the world in a day
It doesn't work that way
I know I've made a mark on the world
if I should die today
Don't exceed your peers
Son, we know your worst fears
This will hurt us more than it hurts you
We have set no trap
Add a feather to your cap
Listen, we all like things just the way they are
Suffer obedience
My chance to jump the fence
I will not be broken down
I will stand firm in my ground
Color inside the lines
Exile the brightest minds
I can see right through your plot
I am alive while you are not
We serve a common good
Your father always would
I am one and I am strong
I can see I don't belong
We have you on file
Come now, we don't beguile
I will hold on to myself
I give in to no one else...
no one else...
I thought I'd change the world in a day
It doesn't work that way
I know I've made a mark on the world
if I should die today
