IVORY GATE LYRICS

Mountains

"Mountains" (2002 Demo)

1. Ivory Gates
2. Light of the Gods
3. Mountains

1. Ivory Gates

"From his dreams he knew that far in the north in the mountains old as this world, there is a place where every soul shall pass. On his journey he met many creatures that survived and he finaly learned all the answers to his questions. The Gods by the mean of the raven led his footsteps straight to the Ivory Gates. He should be the one who shall lead the souls of the Unavenged to the final battle to set them free..."

(Warrior)
Over the mountains and over the seas
Through moor and deep forests
Through cold rain and mist
I'm heading north to the place
I have seen in my dreams
To the ancient valley afar before me I see

Among these mountains old as this world
There shall be the end of my quest
Only my courage and my silver sword
Shall guide me to the Ivory Gates

Across the lands of elves, of hobbits, dwarves and men
Over the hills where dragons dwell
Through endless plains of sand
I've seen many places many beasts lie slain
My Gods are still watching me
And I shall never fail

Among these mountains old as this world
There shall be the end of my quest
Only my courage and my silver sword
Shall guide me through the Ivory Gates

(Warrior - narration)
"Suddenly the Gate before me opened wide
as if it awaited me for a long time.
As I looked into the void
I felt the winds of ages blowing in my face.
From down below the voices were calling my name.
So I advanced wondering what's behind..."

Among these mountains old as this world
There shall be the end of my quest
Only my courage and my silver sword
Shall guide me through the Ivory Gates

2. Light of the Gods

"So the time came when the King went ashore and with a handful of warriors he entered the Tower. He didn't suspect the Gods covered the Tower with powerful spells and most of his company found death in the dark maze. But Fate was written long before and the king should have reached his aim. In a chamber at the top he faced the Guardian of Time who sent a terrible curse on him and all of his followers: "From the ashes of Death you scatter, a warrior shall rise and fetch along a nightmarish army of Unavanged. The last battle where all shall meet their fate shall be fought and the Light shall return to the Gods." Then he changed himself into a raven and disappeared in the storm. Ignoring those words the King put the fragment of Light in his crown and declared himself the King of the World..."

(King)
I open the door to where noone's been
And I feel the presence of Time
I'm gazing through the shadows
There is a magic in the air
Though I go on, the Light it must be mine

Left my warriors in the darkness far behind
Thirst for might is drifting me high
Going to face the Guardian still I do not know
What shall I see and what shall I find

Guardian of mankind
Guardian of Time
You know the reason I'm coming
I'm gonna steal the Light of the Gods

In my hands it lies and now I've got to leave
I can't succeed against my own fate
The Light is shining
Leading me straight towards my doom
No way back for me it is too late

Guardian of mankind
Guardian of Time
You know the reason I'm coming
I'm gonna steal the Light of the Gods

3. Mountains

"Thus ends the story. Since the War of Light many things changed. To prevent the Light from being stolen again the Gods put it far, far away from the Earth. And only time showed me that the war taught people nothing. Easily they forgot the mistakes they commited and their ancestors evil deeds were still repeated. And as the Clock of Life stroke the last age many senseless wars were fought and the face of the Earth could not be able to heal the wounds and the World turned gray. But oceans and mountains, the Gods first creations, shall remind us of the long forgotten beauty of the Earth till the end..."

(Guardian of Time)
When the world was young
Mountains green and the Moon freshly born
Without names were every stream and stone
One day a footprint appeared in the sand
A man came with a hammer in hand

The world turned gray
And the mountains grew old
But they stand in pride and tall
Wind and rain beat down on them
But they shall never make them fall

The wind carried away the sound of axes
Felling hundreds of trees
The silence of the hundreds of dried seas
Brown leaves and eagles from autumn sky
And the stench of places where the last man died

The world turned gray
And the mountains grew old
But they stand in pride and tall
Wind and rain beat down on them
But they shall never make them fall

The world turned gray
And the mountains grew old
But they stand without a stain
Instead of green forests the ruins of towns
The old memory of mankind remained
