1. Survive

So far I haven't been able to sleep
So far I haven't been able to eat
My body's all tied up inside
I will have nowhere to hide
From the sentence that's due to me
From the troubles of the raging sea

How will I survive
Without a compass for my guide
How will I get through
How will I survive

Where will this road lead me to
Not shelter up in the hills
Not a bed left for the ill
Travel I continue still
All alone except for the comfort
Of the silent wind
All alone except for the comfort
Of my sins

How will I survive
Without a compass for my guide

Where will this road lead me to
Not a tiny small place in the earth
Showing me its small and priceless worth
All alone except for the comfort
Of the silent wind
All alone except for the comfort
Of my sins

How will I survive
Without a compass for my guide
How will I get through
How will I survive

Where will this road lead me to
Towards the lights flashing before me
Towards my doom
That I've been too blind to see
All alone except for the comfort of the silent wind
All alone except for the comfort of my sins

2. She Wants To Be

So dark the night when he traveled without sight
Through the trees and the clouds
Searching for a bough to rest his tired head
From the flight which he just led

She wants to be that way,
Oh, to be that way,
She wants to be

Below the tree lay a sight for no one to see
A broken heart in two, and a child's mood that is so blue
Tear-stained cheeks
Take a peek at the vision up above
Hovering over her like a dove

She wants to be that way,
Oh, to be that way,
She wants to be

So cold the air as it flutters and fluffs his hair
And he yearns to find that dawn's just on its way
To bring a bright new day
And she turns to see all of the veins in the leaves

She wants to be that way,
Oh, to be that way,
She wants to be

The stains on her cheeks
Sparkle in the moonbeam, she speaks
And she wipes her knees
And opens her eyes to see
The scrape was already healing
The whole time she was appealing

She wants to be that way,
Oh, to be that way,
She wants to be

3. The Sleeper

At midnight, in the month of June,
I stand beneath the mystic moon.
An opiate vapour, dewy, dim,
Exhales from out her golden rim,
And, softly dripping, drop by drop,
Upon the quiet mountain top,
Steals drowsily and musically
Into the universal valley.
The rosemary nods upon the grave;
The lily lolls upon the wave;
Wrapping the fog about its breast,
The ruin moulders into rest;
Looking like Lethe, see! the lake
A conscious slumber seems to take,
And would not, for the world, awake.
All Beauty sleeps!--and lo! where lies
Irene, with her Destinies!

Oh, lady bright! can it be right--
This window open to the night?
The wanton airs, from the tree-top,
Laughingly through the lattice drop--
The bodiless airs, a wizard rout,
Flit through thy chamber in and out,
And wave the curtain canopy
So fitfully--so fearfully--
Above the closed and fringed lid
‘Neath which thy slumb’ring soul lies hid,
That, o’er the floor and down the wall,
Like ghosts the shadows rise and fall!
Oh, lady dear, hast thou no fear?
Why and what are thou dreaming here?
Sure thou art come o’er far-off seas,
A wonder to these garden trees!
Strange is thy pallor! strange thy dress!
Strange, above all, thy length of tress,
And this all solemn silentness!

The lady sleeps! Oh, may her sleep,
Which is enduring, so be deep!
Heaven have her in its sacred keep!
This chamber changed for one more holy,
This bed for one more melancholy,
I pray to God that she may lie
Forever with unopened eye,
While the pale sheeted ghosts go by!

My love, she sleeps! Oh, may her sleep,
As it is lasting, so be deep!
Soft may the worms about her creep!
Far in the forest, dim and old,
For her may some tall vault unfold--
Some vault that oft hath flung its black
And winged panels fluttering back,
Triumphant, o’er the crested palls,
Of her grand family funerals--

Some sepulchre, remote, alone,
Against whose portal she hath thrown,
In childhood, many an idle stone--
Some tomb from out whose sounding door
She ne’er shall force an echo more,
Thrilling to think, poor child of sin!
It was the dead who groaned within.

4. Carousel

One dark and enchanted evening
The drapes pulled from the door
With frolicking and flying guests
They entered and again they left
Through the windows and the open cracks
Slipping through the walls and wood and brass

And the room is spinning like we're on a carousel
The smoking candles make it hard to see
If I am to find my love tonight
I am holding out my heart for you to see

Others remained and continued the games
Of riddles and spindles and bottles of wine
A breeze fills the sky
And clears everyone's eyes

And the room is spinning like we're on a carousel
The smoking candles make it hard to see
If I am to find my love tonight
I am holding out my heart for you to see

If I am to find my love tonight
I am holding out my heart for you to see

His vision is like that of a tale from a distant land
Straight from a story of love and glory
So strong he stands as he offers me his hand
And we waltz to the drums of a foreign band

And the room is spinning like we're on a carousel
The smoking candles make it hard to see
If I am to find my love tonight
I am holding out my heart for you to see

Now the room is spinning like we're on a carousel
The smoke has taken us to the fog of the morn
On a sea of love that's bound to be
We are holding up our hearts for you to see
We are holding up our hearts for you to see

5. Real

All smiles . . . to fill a curious heart.
All smiles diminish my hesitiation,
My withdrawn nature.

Situations of discomfort
Are situations of discovery,
Where sense is made of disaster.

It feels wonderful . . .
It's so wonderful,
But I fear something that's not even there.
Can this truly be for real?

All thought . . . to fill a curious mind.
Your thoughts diminish my indecision–
My constant failure.

May I be able to share my dreams?
And may I be able
To completely unwrap my heart?

I feel like I'm melting . . .
I feel like I'm melting,
And I feel incredibly unreal.
This cannot possibly be real.

I'll surrender to your appeal
So sense can be revealed
And destructive thoughts remain unexplored.

I finally am real
I finally am real
And now I find that you truly are for real.
I've given in to your lies . . . within.

So wonderful . . .
