1. The Stillness Fades

2. The Shadow Out of Time

My knowledge comes from the shadow self
Unbound by time and opening the way
The darkness draws me into the abyss
Where eternity awaits beyond

Time only has the order we give it
The mind reaches across all eternity
Though I pass free of the bounds
Memory of the future cannot exist

Dreams open the way to the shadow
Some barriers can only open at night
The starry sky forms an entrance
And the shadow radiates from within

The black towers hold the key
To the melding of heaven and earth
The spires are the razor's edge
That open the worlds to the shadow

The shadow will not be abandoned
Even when the stars come right again

3. A Strange and Fitful Presence

(inspired by "The Book of Coming Forth by Night")

My opposite self is strange and fitful
It rights the imbalance of fire
Forming a void in which true creation can take place

I am ageless
I am the seed of all thought
I alone am not of earth

My opposite self endures while I endure
I cannot destroy it save to take its place

I spread the black flame into the night
The seven stars shone in the dawn of man
Drawn forward by the mystery of mysteries
To knowledge of the spheres and strange music from within

Those of the archon show the way
Through infinite facets unique to each BA

4. What the Moon Brings, Part II

The moon turns my words against me
Its light shows my lies
To this sunken place the dead all come
But for my oath I would join them

The ravens descend from the tower
To place on my heart the fire
Black as dead night they watch
As the words find their purpose

The tide draws out under the sinking moon
The spires of the dead city gleam
One last gaze upon the towers of home
After death I have no need of this place

The ravens have done their task
They carry the oath to the wind
The bond will be fulfilled
When the moon comes right again

5. Watcher in the Water

From depths yet beholden, spirits chanting beneath
a lake of ancient grief. Thunder of the ages drowns
the day, bidden by the watcher in the water.

The pale moon floods the forest, yet the drowning
chasms feel it not. The reddened snow engulfs my
tomb as the watcher robs my grave to steal my smile.

The guardian returns Death's cold embrace. Unending,
She implores him. So near, yet unattained, for
eternity fears only tomorrow.

6. A Fever Which Would Cling to Thee Forever

(adapted from "Spirits of the Dead" by Edgar Allan Poe)

Thy soul shall find itself alone
Dark thoughts of grey tombstones
No one who grieves in that secret hour
Will give to that soul any more power

Be silent in that solitude
Which is not true loneliness
The spirits of the dead
Stand before thee again

The stars shall not fade from their high thrones in heaven
Light like hope to mortals given
But to thee they are a fever
Which would cling to thee forever

Now are thoughts thou shall not banish
Burning they cling to thee as fever from the heavens
Now are visions never vanished
Silent they cling to thee as fever burning forever

The breeze is still
The mist enveloped in shadows
The stars come right again and pierce the endless dark
Fever hangs upon the trees
Mystery of mysteries

7. As the Ravens Descend from the Tower
