1. Once More I Shall Watch the Starlight Burn
Once I smiled a silent grin
for the earth to never see again,
it was as I watched the clouds be driven
with no winds unto the heavens.
Oh, I used to bear a kindly heart,
but he who has fallen has fallen apart.
Now I wander by moss and starlight
and beg the sky for a darker twilight.
I despise the red sun's lazy glow...
...for the night has found me...
"...a night of woe."
Once more I shall watch the starlight burn,
but then unto the earth I must return.
I shall form my grave within this land
and return to the place where life began.
As the cold dirt cloaks me, I fill with glee.
I smile once more, but for none to see.
2. As the Autumn Sky Slept Above
At midnight, in my place of woe,
I stand beneath the mystic glow.
It seems to fall into conscious rest
and absorb the dark within its breast.
Oh why must such sorrow dwell
so silently above these trees,
dancing on the autumn winds
and singing with the forest's breeze?
And why must such sadness flow
so vastly through the mountain tops,
dripping from the moon's gold rim
unto my hands, drop by drop?
How badly the moon wants to shed her skin,
never to waste her light again,
and how badly she wants to leave the sky
as her tears shed black against the night.
The moon, she sleeps, oh let her sleep;
let her dream in silence in night's sacred keep;
may she bask in shadows beneath my wings,
forever black as the sky's ageless ring...
3. Through the Shadow that the Pine Trees Cast
I bask beneath the cloak of night
and sit to watch my mortal self.
He lay entwined within a single flame,
no guilt nor sorrow can outweigh my shame.
I am not ashamed that I sit and watch,
nor ashamed that I am pleased,
yet I disgust myself, for as I stare,
he weeps and falls unto his knees.
I shall shed no tears for this weeping man,
in fact he makes me sick, for his weakness shows.
Of course I can see
that he will die beneath the flames.
Do you not know
if not for me, he would not be ablaze?
And so I have shed myself
of this worthless mortal flesh
and shall forever dwell beneath
the shadow that the pine trees cast.
4. Gazing through the Eyes of Endless Sorrow
Many nights I've spent here,
perched high atop my towers throne,
embracing the dusk with open arms
only to once more be alone.
Through countless hours of sulking
and looking down on the Earth below,
I have peered through the eyes of endless sorrow
and found that to the worms, I am the crow.
So is it true...
that through sorrow peace may be obtained?
And is it so...
that through the eyes of night, ye shall find thy way?
You may take my hand,
and in time you'll see,
but I must warn you friend,
that I am the crow and on worms I feed.
