2. Under the banner of the Raven

Arise my Ravens
Take to the wing and fly!
Smite all the cravens
Rip out their fucking eyes;
Into battle I now ride
Fierce thunder Gods be with me tonight!
Forever shall I stand with pride
For your glory into the fight.

Lightning strikes grim mountainsides
Behold the dawn of a forgotten time
Is this the omen, is this the sign?
My sword raised to the sky
I utter the final epic cry
Under the banner of the Raven God!

As the Raven calls my name…

I raise my sword and touch the sky
I raise my voice and havoc I cry!

All hail the Raven Lord!

Christian knights
Arrive on ships inside the night
They bring fire, they bring steel
They bring a new faith of slavery!
Christian knights
Begone until the sunrise
Else taste savage, heathen wrath and die
Thou loathsome dogs,
Scorners of old rites!

“Sons of Midgard
Hearken now these words:
Brothers on the battlefield may be slain
Wealth and livestock goes by;
In the end naught remains but a glorious deed’s name!
Fight now, rise and fight!
For the ancient thunder gods
For the green hills and fjords!”

Ripping a path, tearing foes apart
With this axe cleaving in my hand
No enemy of mine shall stand!
Cut down by my sword
Vengeance is dealt untold!
We are the victors, rulers of the fray
Under the banner of the Raven God!

Ten thousand eagles
Gather raven mists
Riding fireclouds of a boiling storm!
Whirlwinds ravage this frostbitten land
Mountains will shake
Withering forest and plane
Whilst proud Nordic fire dragons
Soar to conquer the endless sky!

“Sons of Midgard
Gather for attack
They come to slay our thunder god!
For the Aesir’s hammerheart
Safeguard our sacred fatherland!
With rune carved swords in hand
Side by side we march
Into carnage, into war
Red vengeance till the night falls…”

Triumphant see me shine
Blood stained sword by my side
The horned moon upon me smiles!
I have returned beyond the dark tide
And now as hero I ride the sky
Under the banner of the Raven God!

As the Raven calls my name

I raise my sword and touch the sky
I raise my voice and havoc I cry!

All hail the Raven Lord!

I rush into battle with fire in my eyes
With every blow down a foe,
Down the fuck, down he dies!

Fearless ride the sons of Woden under the banner of the Raven!

3. Song of Nimrodel

An Elven-maid there was of old,
A shining star by day:
Her mantle white was hemmed with gold,
Her shoes of silver-grey.

A star was bound upon her brows,
A light was on her hair
As sun upon the golden boughs
In Lorien the fair.

Her hair was long, her limbs were white,
And fair she was and free;
And in the wind she went as light
As leaft of linden-tree.

Beside the falls of Nimrodel,
By water clear and cool,
Her voice as silver fell
Into the shining pool.

Where now she wanders none can tell,
In sunlight or in shade;
For lost of yore was Nimrodel
And in the mountains strayed.

The elven-ship in haven grey
Beneath the mountain-lee
Awaited her for many a day
Beside the roaring sea.

A wind by night in Northern lands
Arose, and loud it cried,
And drove the ship from elven-strands
Across the streaming tide.

When dawn came dim the land was lost,
The mountains sinking grey
Beyond the heaving waves that tossed
Their plumes of blinding spray.

Amroth beheld the fading shore
Now low beyond the swell,
And cursed the faithless ship that bore
Him far from Nimrodel.

Of old he was an Elven-king,
A lord of tree and glen,
When golden were the boughs in springz
In fair Lothlorien.

From helm to sea they saw him leap,
As arrow from the string,
And dive into the water deep,
As mew upon the wing.

The wind was in his flowing hair,
The foam about him shone;
Afar they saw him strong and fair
Go riding like a swan.

But from the West has come no word,
And on the Hither Shore
No tidings Elven-folk have heard
Of Amroth evermore.

4. Where in honour the Elvenking wars

“Then Fingolfin beheld the utter ruin of the Noldor, and the defeat beyond redress of all their houses; and filled with wrath and despair he mounted upon Rochallor his great horse and rode forth alone, and none might restrain him. He passed over Dor-nu-Fauglith like a wind amid the dust, and all that beheld his onset fled in amaze, thinking that Oromë himself was come: for a great madness of rage was upon him, so that his eyes shone like the eyes of the Valar.”

War torn and crimson,
Ruin untold claims my fair Beleriand!
Wrathful is my ride, avenger’s right
To liberate my beloved Beleriand!

Like the wind, like the storm
I hasten ever on
Astride my great stallion of war
Elven steel to challenge the might of Morgoth!

Underneath the skies of yore
Triumphant star borne songs
Where in honour the elvenking wars!

“Thus he came alone to Angband’s gates, and he sounded his horn, and smote once more upon the brazen doors, and challenged Morgoth to come forth to single combat. And Morgoth came.”

O valiant king, mighty Elven lord
Proudly sound thy horn!
Let thine enemy step forth,
Greet him with heart and sword!

“The rocks rang with the shrill music of Fingolfin’s horn, and his voice came keen and clear down into the depths of Angband…”

Before the gates of iron sod
I know I stand alone,
Blade unsheathing –
A victory hope in eclipse waning!

Shine Ringil, Shine!
Shine this one time,
Shine furious in the fight
Let all see thy light!

Thunderclaps of Grond
Woe! The Elvenking falls,
The challenger of doom has lost…

So let it be. Praise our most noble liege and king!

5. The shores of Valinor

6. With dragons I ride

Born neath the sign
Of the mighty winged reptile,
With pride I have lived
Endowed by birth with the gift!
Now with honor I rise
Once more I take to the sky
Astride furious beasts I fly!

With dragons I ride
A majestic warlord of the sky!
Soaring high, Wyverns fly
Battle ecstasy is nigh!
Breathing fire, spitting flame
My dragon throne I reclaim!

A burning black sword in my grasp
Spears howl to rip flesh apart
Yet lo! Our banner’s holding fast!
With hatred we strike back
Cutting out their hearts
Drown them in a sea of blood!

Hymns echo in the clouds
The clash of our steel!
Driven in hegira of retreat
Our foes surrender and kneel!
Emerging from the fray,
Victorious we stand forever true
Strong and brave, ours is the day!

“And in the aftermath of carnage, corpse mounds crowd the field of battle. A sinister mist lingers over the bodies of the slain, her merciful veils covering the atrocious sight of slaughter, spilt blood and torn viscera. So many league fellows fell today, so many heroes lost, so many broken swords… Yet no battle but a war we have hereby won! O friends, grieve not overmuch! Set the dead to their pyre; sing their fame by the lyre… And high in the mournful evening sky, mighty black dragons raise a final hail of farewell and then away they fly!”

In memory of fallen lords
Dragons lament with sad red eyes
Envenomed tears, darkened by plight;
Fiery sobs, flames in their dirge
For dragon lords who once stood tall
Won’t breathe the wind no more...

Only their spirit lingers on
A legend eternal to forge
And into glorious war lead us anon!

7. In the Golden Wood – Elven charm

Oh, Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
Thy starlight on the Western seas...

We are the Firstborn,
Beloved of creation, over mortal man,
We saw the first sun arise
Heard the whispers of a new breeze!

The earth was our garden,
Home to Elven lords so fair,
Even starlight feigned to compare!

Oh, Elbereth! Gilthoniel!
We still remember we who dwell
In this far land beneath the trees
Thy starlight on the Western Seas…

In the Golden Wood,
Our temples lie undisturbed,
For laughter in festivities we sing
A jovial folk indeed are we,
Yet carry a sadness deep
Roses for our maidens,
Bright feathers in the hair.

We dwell in harmony and never despair...
Far away from men, in the heart of nature, there...
In the greenest wood, follow spirits through the air,
A magic Elven charm they have prepared!

Gaze in the mirror, see your reflection
Is it the present or mayhap the past,
Could it be the future, this vision I now see?
Miracles of nature, trees impose, robin song in accord!

My mind is drunk on sylvan scent and soul,
Let me rest my head to Elven sleep forevermore!
Back into the cruel world to return, I wish it not!
Solace I seek in fairytales grand, clinging to my Elven charm…

Wandering the silent paths of the Golden Wood
Where my dreams can fly anew...
I kiss the grass, where Luthien danced
Into thine eyes I gaze entranced!
Menel Palan - Diriel
Le Nallon si di' nguruthos!
A tiro nin, Fanulios!
Hailing Lothlorien, the magic Golden Wood
Brave Elven warriors in the gloom
Astride winged unicorns - Return to glorious Eldamar!

8. Domain of darksome ravens

“One darksome Raven riding the Northern wind,
One black crown to wake the Aesir
And underneath the waning winter moon
The wind swept cedar forest stirs…”

Where darksome ravens dwell
There in the ancient glade
Where royal eagles soar
There in the storming skies…

Will I set my shrine
And hail the Gods on high!

Where fearsome ravens dwell
Underneath their ebon wings
Where wise Owls sing
Underneath their stare…

Will I hallow my weapons
At night before the fight!

Where darksome ravens dwell
There in the ancient glade
Where winged Faery sweep
There by the enchanted creek

Will I in solitude pace
Before battle I embrace!

“In raven haunted forests I reign,
Where all is quiet, all is tranquil
I am the crowned, lonely king.”

9. Those of ancient blood

In a crypt hidden in dreams of stars afar,
Guarded by the sleeping dragon of Hatheg 'Kla
Dwell those of Ancient Blood!

Call to them and they shalt come...

In dreams they shall find you,
And in blood they'll bind you!
Black & screaming,
Back into the Abyss they shall carry you!

Pray to them and they shalt heed...

Set the sun for all eternity to come,
Ancient breed in burial fetters stirs!
Creatures of the void, amorphous and coiled.

Sing to them and they shalt listen...

Adorned with decorations of the Otherworld,
Whispering voices that you hear
Prowlers of inspiration dreams - A poet's familiar fiends!

There, in spaces 'twixt the stars, dwell those of Ancient Blood!

10. Paean to a fallen paladin

Quand Roland sent que la mort s' empare de lui,
que de la tete elle lui descend au coeur,
il est alle en courant sous un pin ;
sur l' herbe verte is s' est couche face contre terre,
sous luis il met son epee at l' olifant.
Il se tourna, la tete face a l' ennemi paien ;

" Mea coulpa, mon Dieu, devant ta puissance redemptrice,
pour mes peches, les grands et les petits,
que j'ai commis depuis l'heure ou je naquis
jusqu'a ce jour ou me voici frappe a mort ! "
Il a tendu vers Dieu son gant droit :
Du ciel les anges descendent jusqu'a lui.

Roland est mort ; Dieu a son ame aux cieux.

(Verses 2355 – 2374 from « Le chanson de Roland »)

11. Deeds of song on the fields of Pelennor

Coral hued horizons herald a new day
Black clouds cast a spell of shadow
Enthroned high above gods our weapons hallow
As to the lands of Gondor we ride!

We’re the host of glory,
Masters of revenge, allies of the King!
For the Elfstone and his throne
Today we shall charge the field!

Havoc is the cry
Into the raging tempest of steel!

Deeds of song
On the fields of Pelennor!
Deeds of song
By mighty knights performed!
Deeds of song
A legend from the days of old!

Eoreds of the Rohirim
Pound the vast green meadows
With lowered lances
Faces grim, painted for war
Thunderfire cracks in battle dances!

Men of Dol Amroth
Tall and fair raven warriors
Shining bright long swords
‘gainst the chains of the Orcs
Empowered with spells
All hail mighty Gondor!

Behind the defenders
Our prince will not hide!
First mongst the avengers
Like the thunder he strikes!
At the hour of his wrath
Dare not block his path!

We yield only when dead
Never throw down our flag
Nor in shame surrender,
Afterwards awaits us a deathbed
Gilded with the praise of a skald!

Darkness surrounds us
We stand side by side
With swords drawn we fight
To protect the realm of light
And the stars in the sky
For Elbereth we fight!

“And now the fighting waxed furious on the fields of the Pelennor; and the din of arms rose upon high, with the crying of men and the neighing of horses. Horns were blown and trumpets were braying, and the mumakil were bellowing as they were goaded to war. Under the south walls of the City the footmen of Gondor now drove against the legions of Morgul that were still gathered there in strength. But the horsemen rode eastward to the succor of Eomer: Hurin the Tall, Warden of the Keys, and the Lord of Lossarnach , and Hirluin of the Green Hills, and Prince Imrahil the fair with his knights all about him.”

Like all warriors
Into the sky
Unconquered finally we die
Wreathed in sunset, bleeding clouds
Noble victory be mine!
