1. Morgoth's crown
(Overture)
2. Ride of the Rohirrim
Riders of Theoden arise
‘Pon valleys of emerald
Stallions ivory race the wind!
Trumpets call keen and clear
The horse masters from their halls
To wrath and war anon: Red nightfall!
Gleaming as silver
Our swords in the wind;
Six thousand spears
The cataclysm of steel!
Our armies are proud
Have glory and strength
Never surrender, never retreat
Ride on forever, ride to victory!
From the grasslands they come
Ride of the warriors;
Knights of Rohan advance
They storm like wrath of Gods!
“Out of doubt, out of dark to the day’s rising
I came singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
To hope’s end I rode and to heart’s breaking:
Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red nightfall!”
Theoden king lift thy golden shield
Calling to the brave: great battle horn
Liege of the Mark sound the attack
Vengeance is begun – start the slaughter fall!
Theoden king ride like the wind,
Snowmane your steed bears thee in speed
To the field of blood where the fighting
Rages thick amid the crash of arms!
Behold the emerald host
Masters of Mark, noble lords;
Spear in hand, sword and lance - On they advance!
Into the fire we ride
Our flag unfurled to the sky
A song of war on our lips -We fight to die!
Gleaming as silver
Our swords in the wind;
Six thousand spears
The cataclysm of steel!
Our armies are proud
Have glory and strength
Never surrender, never retreat
Ride on forever, ride to victory!
From the grasslands they come
Ride of the warriors;
Knights of Rohan advance
They storm like wrath of Gods!
Arise, arise, Riders of Theoden!
Fell deeds awake: fire and slaughter!
Spear shall be shaken, shield shall be splintered,
A sword day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
3. One Ring to rule them all
(Lyrics by J.R.R Tolkien)
Three rings for the Elven – kings under the sky,
Seven for the Dwarf – lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for the Mortal Men doomed to die,
One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
4. Throne of the Horned God
Cryptic twilight, mist of dusk
Exalted winter’s freezing crown
Invades the forest, realm of Satyrs…
From deep within the oaken heart
The Horned God quits his slumber
And brooding silence shrouds the vale…
“Arise resurgent o God of yore, rich be thy altars once again with offerings of blood and more… Awaken o sceptered Emperor arcane, lead us back to thy mystical domain!”
Horned God, king amid the trees
Bless this land: woods and flowing streams!
Cernunnos hunter in the wild
Hail our God, the Horned One!
“Concealed within the deepest grove of ash and yew and holy oak, white clad pagans dance round the blazing fire. Silver bells chime throughout the sylvan kingdom, stirred by a fairy wind. An ovation of hymns travels the midnight breeze, whispering of ancient dreams… And there, in splendor unveiled and radiant, the Horned God Cernunnos is enthroned.”
Horned God, king amid the trees
Bless this land: woods and flowing streams!
Cernunnos hunter in the wild
Hail our God, the Horned One!
5. Lady of the Golden Wood
6. Minas Morgul
Darkness is ravening within
The black tower of sorcery,
Where brooding spires oversee
These ghastly courtyards ebony…
Necromantic banners fly high
In the lands where hope and daylight die
Through haunted spectral topiaries
Soporiferous deadly mist…
Come back black winds murder the stars!
Come back - back to Minas Morgul!
Benighted figures dance beneath
An eerie moon’s mystic eclipse
Morgul demons and Nazgul knights
With loathsome songs now praise the Eye…
Cruel arts appease perverse desire
Painting shrines of bone whereon crimson
Anguished blood of sacrifice anon
Grimly stains the (once) holy marble halls…
Come back black winds murder the stars!
Come back - back to Minas Morgul!
“And lo! There stand the Nine – with hands upraised they embrace the moonlit sky… Where sunlight fails and flowers die fearsome cries echo in the night summoning the Lidless Eye…”
7. Princess of the Dawn
“Why did’st thou promise such a beauteous day,
And make me travel forth without my cloak,
To let base clouds o’ertake me in my way,
Hiding thy bravery in their rotten smoke?”
Riding my horse
On a cold, early morn
Far from the tower
Wandering silent paths
In the glade of the Elves
I saw Her dancing on
The pure white snow
And a spell was cast
She stole my heart…
Princess of the Dawn
Hear now my song
In sweet reverie
Kiss o kiss me deep,
Reach out to me
Take me in thy dream!
On feet light and swift
She vanished from sight
And I was left alone
All alone in the glade
Autumn skies in my heart
Overcast and lonesome
Grey as tears, tarnished gold,
Ardent dawn pray come
Come again bless them…
Princess of the Dawn
Hear now my song
In sweet reverie
Kiss o kiss me deep,
Reach out to me
Take me in thy dream!
“Oft I have dreamt of thee, wandered through galleries haunted by misery, lonely and sorrowing… Give me back my heart that it may bleed once more tortured by the sufferings of love…”
Die Princess, die!
Die in my heart!
Questing for a dream
To horizons far
My sails embrace
Breath of a new wind!
8. Fairest of the Faery
Under trees evergreen I fell asleep,
Lull’d by a woodland reel
Wreathed in flowers of gold, sat atop the Cliffs of Ivory
There I found you waiting for me;
Sunset in your eyes you smiled to see the Moon
Whispering velvet to mine ear – a rhyme of love
Held my hand and evermore claimed my heart.
Encircled by attending Faery
Fairest still you stood beyond compare,
Bestowed a furtive ruby kiss
Then vanished like the sweet summer breeze…
Awakening lonesome in the forest weeping silence I entreated:
Come back beloved Faery-dream; come back to me!
9. Boudicca's insurrection
10. King of the Lonely Mountain (Epos in IV parts)
(Lyrics by J.R.R Tolkien)
I.Over mountains tall
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere the break of day,
To seek the pale enchanted gold.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
For ancient king and elvish lord
There many a gleaming golden hoard
They shaped and wrought, and light they caught
To hide in gems on hilt of sword.
On silver necklaces they strung
The flowering stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon fire, in twisted wire
They meshed the light of moon and sun.
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away ere the break of day
To claim our long forgotten gold.
Goblets they carved there for themselves
And harps of gold; where no man delves
There lay they long, and many a song
Was sung unheard by men or elves.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.
The bells were ringing in the dale
And men looked up with faces pale;
Then dragon’s ire more fierce than fire
Laid low their towers and houses frail.
The mountains smoked beneath the moon;
The dwarves, they heard the tramp of doom.
They fled their hall to dying fall
Beneath his feet, beneath the moon.
Far over the misty mountains grim
To dungeons deep and caverns dim
We must away ere the break of day,
To win our harps and gold from him!
II.Horror in the halls of stone (instrumental)
III.Our foes shall fall
Under the Mountain dark and tall
The King has come unto his hall!
His foe is dead, the Worm of Dread,
And ever so his foes shall fall.
The sword is sharp, the spear is long,
The arrow swift, the Gate is strong;
The heart is bold that looks on gold;
The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong.
The dwarves of yore made mighty spells,
While hammers fell like ringing bells
In places deep, where dark things sleep,
In hollow halls beneath the fells.
On silver necklaces they strung
The light of stars, on crowns they hung
The dragon fire, from twisted wire
The melody of harps they wrung.
The mountain throne once more is freed!
O! Wandering folk, the summons heed!
Come haste! Come haste! Across the waste!
The king of friend and kin has need.
Now call we over mountains cold,
‘Come back unto the caverns old!’
Here at the Gates the king awaits,
His hands are rich with gems and gold.
The king is come unto his hall
Under the Mountain dark and tall
The Worm of Dread is slain and dead
And ever so our foes shall fall!
IV.Return of the Mountain-king (instrumental)
11. The Eagles are coming
(Text interludes by J.R.R Tolkien)
“All about the hills the hosts of Mordor raged. The Captains of the West were foundering in a gathering sea. The sun gleamed red, and under the wings of the Nazgul the shadows of death fell dark upon the earth. Aragorn stood beneath his banner, silent and stern, as one lost in thought of things long past or far away; but his eyes gleamed like stars that shine the brighter as the night deepens. Upon the hill top stood Gandalf, and he was white and cold and no shadow fell on him. The onslaught of Mordor broke like a wave on the beleaguered hills, voices roaring like a tide amid the wreck and crash of arms.”
Steel meets steel on the field
Cormallen dyed blood red,
Foe beleaguered, benighted
Proud stands the legion!
Wings of hope rising high
Thorondor’s sons by our side
Hold the line, draw your swords
Laugh in Death’s iron face!
“As if to his eyes some sudden vision had been given, Gandalf stirred; and he turned, looking back north were the skies were pale and clear. And he lifted up his hands and cried in a loud voice ringing above the din: The Eagles are coming! And many voices answered crying: The Eagles are coming! The Eagles are coming!”
Thunder strikes in the sky
And noble Eagles arrive,
Over the fire they fly
Kings of the heavens above!
And overhead the full moon
Shines brighter than before
Banners of glory aloft
Flout the host of Sauron!
“There came Gwaiahir the Windlord, and Landroval his brother, greatest of all the Eagles of the North, mightiest of the descendants of old Thorondor, who built his eyries in the inaccessible peaks of the Encircling Mountains when Middle-earth was young. Behind them in long swift lines came all their vassals from the northern mountains, speeding on a gathering wind. Straight down upon the Nazgul they bore, stooping suddenly out of the high airs, and the rush of their wide wings as they passed over was like a gale!”
In flowing streams of gold
We shall bathe our swords
The throne of old is now restored
Horns sound the victory song!
Darkness is banished anon
How its reign now doth fall,
Steeped in the blood of our foes
Brandish the scepter of war!
“But the Nazgul turned and fled, and vanished into Mordor’s shadows, hearing a sudden terrible call out of the Dark Tower; and even at that moment all the hosts of Mordor trembled, doubt clutching their hearts, their laughter failed, their hands shook and their limbs were loosed. The Power that drove them on and filled them with hate and fury was wavering, its will was removed from them; and now looking in the eyes of their enemies they saw a deadly light and they were afraid."
Thunder strikes in the sky
Thorondor’s sons fly high
They spread their wings – touch the sun,
Armies below hail the strong!
Eagles ride; greet the dawn,
Beyond horizons afar
Mountains enshrouded by frost
Their legend will linger on!
“Then all the Captains of the West cried aloud, for their hearts were filled with a new hope in the midst of darkness. Out from the beleaguered hills knights of Gondor, Riders of Rohan, Dunedain of the North, close-serried companies, drove against their wavering foes, piercing the press with the thrust of bitter spears.”
12. Sailing into the sunset
