Rising from the past, these memories of better days

To warn of attacks from imaginary enemies
We line up like sheep to trade our liberty for security
Fear is a weapon with the power to control the masses
Confidence and complacency pull the trigger
Panic follows, run for cover into the arms of our Big Brother

Acceptable cruelty fostered by the purposefully unaware
If it can't be seen that means it isn't there
The bloodshed continues unabated
and tolerated in the name of tradition
murder as an institution is still murder
We justify the slaughter as a necessary evil
but it's just evil
Objectified as soulless and not deserving our mercy
but could it be that we're the soulless beasts?
