1. Via Mala (Intro)
2. When Coldness Wraps This Suffering Clay
When coldness wraps this suffering clay,
Ah! Whither strays the immortal mind?
It cannot die, it cannot stay
But leaves its darkend dust behind
Then, unembodied, doth it trace
By steps each planets heavenly way?
Or fill at once the realms of space,
A thing of eyes, that all survey?
Eternal, boundless, undecayd,
A thought unseen, but seeing all,
All, all in earth, or skies displayd,
Shall it survey, shall it recall!
Each fainter trace that memory holds,
So darkly of departed years
In one broad glance the soul beholds,
And all, that was, at once appears.
Before creation peopled earth,
Its eye shall roll through chaos back;
And where the furthest heaven had birth,
The spirit trace its rising track
And where the future mars or makes,
Its glance dilate oer all to be,
While sun is quenchd or system breaks,
Fixd in its own eternity
Above or love, hope, hate, or fear
It lives all passionless and pure
An age shall fleet like earthly years;
Its years as moments shall endure
Away, away, without a wing
Oer all, through all, its thought shall fly;
A nameless and eternal thing,
Forgetting what it was to die
3. Darkness
I had a dream, which was not all a dream
The bright sun was extinguishd and the stars
Did wander darkling in the eternal space,
Rayless, and pathless, and the icy earth
Swung blind and blackening in the moonless air;
Morn came, and went and came, and brought no day,
And men forget their passions in dread
Of this their desolation;
The world was void
The populous and the powerful was a lump
Seasonless, herbless, treeless, manless, lifeless,
A lump of death a chaos of hard clay
The rivers lakes, and ocean, all stood still,
And nothing stirred within their silent depths;
The waves were dead; the tides were in their grave,
The moon, their mistress, had expired before;
The winds were witherd in the stagnant air,
And the clouds perishd; darkness had no need
Of aid from them she was the universe
4. Memento Mori
I gaze at the gray sunless sky
I feel the pain as Im about to die
To my grave I go
To the pits of hell I shall flow
My funeral march is crossing the cemetery slowly
In the background lies the church so sad and lonely
Strange things in the world of darkness Ill see
Just like a nightmare itll be
I am far below the ground
By chains in hell I have been bound
I am hellbound
Momento mori
Mors ultima ratio
Momento mori
Requi escat in pace
5. O Fallacem Hominium Spem (Outro)
