1. Prelude
2. Hamartia
Churning in these tempest tides, ebbing towards decay.
Foundations desecrated by impiety.
Languished, forlorn, unable to maintain.
Encompassed by despondency.
“I’m drowning.
My toils proving vain.
Darkness swallowing my will to breath, I’m gasping”
Labored cries reflect the failure of an ingrown life.
Enslaved to the nature of contradiction,
controlled by desires that subvert hallowed intention.
Enveloped in incompletion, void, barren, destitute.
“This emptiness within me leaves me ever searching.”
Yearning for purpose and contentment,
striving to supplement the pervading depravity.
“Senseless, my life’s lost in shadow.
Failure to see beyond the ashes.”
Downward spiral of insignificance masked by escapist indulgence in impropriety.
Despair abated by over stimulation of momentary pleasure.
Willful furtherance of eternal separation.
3. Exaleiphein - Movement I
Purity defiled by the denial of hallowed intentions, the continual pursuance of ultimate control.
Unconscious ignorance feeding convenience,
stemming from the intentional self-deception of rational thought.
Psalm 36
Transgression speaks to the wicked deep in their hearts;
there is no fear of God before their eyes.
For they flatter themselves in their own eyes that their iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
The words of their mouths are mischief and deceit;
they have ceased to act wisely and they do not reject evil.
Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.
All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.
For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see.
O continue your steadfast love to those who know you, and your salvation to the upright of heart!
Do not let the foot of pride overtake me, or the hand of the wicked drive me away.
There lie the workers of iniquity fallen; they are thrust down, unable to rise.
4. Movement II
Sifting through the charred remains of self-fulfillment,
fruitless efforts to appease an intangible yearning.
Standing on the brink of death, petitioning the value of this pallid life.
“What is there that is left to live for?
This all consuming feeling that there’s something more?”
An internal vacuum; frozen desperate, lonely.
Waiting to be filled by the breath of life.
Ingrained desire for completion, imprinted in creation, the handprint of design.
Restoration awaits a desire to seek; an openness to embrace the intended fulfillment,
willingness to relinquish the shackles of betrayal, to cast off the chains of self-imprisonment.
Living water will quench the intangible thirst (never too thirst again),
calm the churning tides, still the tempest, and part the seas.
Delivering a drowning man to solid land.
Divine compassion lies in wait for the opportunity to bring restitution.
The hand of wrath, empowered to serve justice in light of the defiling of truth,
has been stayed by the deliberate had of mercy.
The debt was channeled through mortal pain and death,
once through one, the risen one, once and for all, for the restoring of all.
Pervasive grace pierces through darkness revealing light.
All that remains is a step in faith, to make a choice.
“For too long I’ve entertained these lies. Self reliance has blinded my sight.”
“As I turn my eyes towards the fire, a voice beckons to me as I cry.”
“Relinquish fear, you no longer must hide. Let this Fire, within you reside.”
“Tempering the fortitude of life, annealing power of light be glorified.”
5. Splagchna
6. Xenos - Movement I
Paralyzed with arms lifted high, entranced in awe of enlightenment.
Overwhelmed by the stark contrast of revelation.
“Descended fire to forgive, kindled desire to live and breathe again.
Renewed perspective and meaning, empowered by the flame indwelling.”
Transformation of reason, eyes opened wide to the existence of truth.
Truth, transcending the futile grasp of understanding.
Object of desire now realized, this yearning inside intensifies.
Fervently seeking the warm embrace of restoration.
Tumultuous waters recede and subside as the firm foundation of life is revealed in the light.
The frailty of expended efforts is enveloped in the overriding of faith.
The great mystery disclosed, the shedding of blood for the hope of glory.
Hope that drowns out the echoing cries of desperation,
and joy that fills the depths of the barren void.
Peace surpassing the reach of self-fulfillment, love overshadowing ultimate self-concern.
“I am yours to command.
Come and send me Lord.
By your will, I will be your vessel, Lord.
My life is yours to demand what you would of me.
Light my path, and I will give my life to you.”
7. Movement II
Arduous path; a narrow road of hope amidst an immense world of fear, sorrow, and death.
Human instinct to earn a right of passage, to gain through the toil of hands.
Foreign concept of grace, hesitance to rest in a debt paid in full, the ultimate sacrifice.
Relinquish the desire to control; the shackles have been broken, no longer bound by self-restraint.
Rest with confidence in the eternal assurance.
Nonetheless, fear strikes with violent force.
The unrelenting allure of the pleasures of flesh, infringes on the fortitude of righteousness.
Questions, reinforced by the voice of close-minded persecution,
feed the tendency of second-guessing, breeding doubt and confusion.
Temporal perspective yields finite understanding;
dwelling on earthly wisdom, shadowed by perceptions of truth.
Reliance on personal strength weakens the foundation of the power of faith.
A Holy fire now resides inside, unfathomed potential, power of the Divine.
Eternal strength will prevail through life’s trials and travails.
Joy is found through struggle, negating despair.
Power and majesty and sovereign truth rise above the ashes of this crumbling world.
8. Benediction
May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, go with you.
There is great power that makes all things new,
the blood of the eternal covenant through which God raised the Lord Christ Jesus from death.
Therefore, give honor, thanks, and praise to the glory of the Father and the Son.
Go forth in the certainty of faith, in the knowledge of love, and in the vision of hope;
and may God work in you what is pleasing to Him,
through Christ Jesus, to whom be the glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
