DROTTNAR BIOGRAPHY
Drottnar is an avant-garde technical black-metal group from Norway.
Formed in 1996 under the name Vitality, they originally played death-metal, but changed their name to Drottnar when they switched to a viking black-metal sound.
In 2000 they released Spiritual Battle, a compilation of their 1997 and 1998 demos. In 2003, Anamorphosis was released, displaying a new technical black-metal sound with much less, if any, Viking black-metal influence.
In 2006, a two-song preview 7" was released entitled Ad Hoc Revolt, and later came the full-length Welterwerk, both on Endtime Productions. These showcased a further expansion on Drottnar's sound: extremely technical, plenty of time changes, avant-garde jazz riffing, and so forth. Several individual shows are planned for this year, but no full tour has been announced.
