CYNIC BIOGRAPHY
Formed in Florida in 1987, Cynic is a technical metal band that recorded several pedestrian thrash metal demos before moving to a highly complex form of jazz-fusion influenced experimental death metal.. manifested in their only official release - 1993's Focus.
Cynic disbanded in 1994 due to artistic differences while recording their second album, but left behind their ground-breaking and pioneering footprint on the world of progressive metal. A footprint that continues to influence avantgarde and technical metal bands to these days.
The members have since moved on to other projects, including: Portal, Aeon Spoke, Aghora and Gordian Knot.
In september 2006 strong rumors say that Cynic is planning a reunion to play some festival shows in Europe spring/summer 2007. Some even mention new material. The rumors are confirmed to date with Cynic playing at least one new song during their shows called Evolutionary Sleeper, which sounds like a typical song off of Focus, complete with vocoder vocals.
