COUNT RAVEN BIOGRAPHY
Of the several Sabbath-inspired bands on the Hellhound label, Sweden's Count Raven was probably the most representative of the classic doom sound for which Hellhound was renowned. The band comes dangerously close to cloning (especially with the vocals being very Ozzy-like) but in general the songs are strong enough to overlook this. After four albums (all pretty similar in style), a deteriorating working relationship between founder Dan Fondelius and the other two members forced the band to fold in March of 1999. Fondelius went on to form a new band by the name of Doomsday Government, but little was heard from this band. However, the band was reported as back in action in spring 2004, with touring plans in place and possible future recording plans in the works as well. It was officially announced in September 2005 that their back catalog would be re-issued and that they were hopeful for a new album to be recorded in 2006.
