Corpus Mortale was formed in early 1993. From the beginning the intention was to play pure and aggressive death metal. In the early years the band received great recognition in the underground through the demo’s “Corpus Mortale” 1995 and “Integration” 1996 and also through numerous successful concerts in Denmark and Germany.
In 1999, only five months after recording the third demo “Spiritim” 1998, both of the guitar players left the band.
After the break Martin and Nicholas continued writing songs and the music took a new direction when Brian Eriksen and Jens Lee (both formerly of Iniquity) joined Corpus Mortale. With this new line-up the band entered the studio in late 2000 to record “Succumb To The Superior” which proved to be the last official demo of the band.
With the new demo the band got some serious contract offers but nothing came out of it.
Then in late 2001 Anders Lundemark (Konkhra, Starstruck Studios) contacted the band offering to make a demo for free only for shopping purposes. The “Sombre And Vile” 2002 promo was the result and this promo was the one that landed the final contract.
In October 2003 Corpus Mortale signed a record deal with Dutch label Neurotic Records (a label run by former employees of Hammerheart Rec., Unique Leader etc.) and in November the same year the debut album “With Lewd Demeanor” was released. The release of the album was followed up by a European promotion tour along with Konkhra, Homo Iratus & Illnath.
After the tour the band faced several serious problems that took a lot of time which could have been spend better…These problems have now been solved and the band has managed to write some new material meanwhile.
During the summer of 2006 the 7-inch Ep “Seize The Moment of Murder” will be released through the Greek label Nuclear Winter Records. The second full-length album “A New Species of Deviant” will be released later in 2006. A promotional tour in Europe is currently being planned as well as some one-off shows in Denmark, Sweden and Greece.
