BATHORY BIOGRAPHY
Bathory was the project of the now deceased Tomas "Ace" Börje Forsberg (Quorthon), who lived from 22 February 1966 - 7 June 2004 and died of heart failure. Bathory was a landmark band in the history of black metal. Most second wave black metal bands were influenced by the ground work laid by Bathory.
Around the late 80s, Bathory changed its style from black metal to what was later known as viking metal, mixing epic music with nordic themes and viking influences, while retaining its black metal roots.
Quorthon also put out self-titled records for musical ideas that were inappropriate for his main band.
