Argonautica is an American extreme epic melodic/power metal band, formed by vocalist/guitarist Jay Lock and drummer Cody Armstrong. The band incorporates spacey, dreamy, and sometimes folky atmospheres into their black/power metal songwriting.


Created in the winter of 2005, Argonautica has written several songs over the years, along with performing covers by various bands. The line-up of the band has been fairly steady since the beginning, with the exception of several bassist changes, and a 7 month break in early 2007. In February of that year, drummer Cody Armstrong and bassist Chris Marino left due to bad chemistry in the band, and no motivation.


During this time, Jay Lock finished songwriting for an upcoming promotional album. Seven originals and one cover were written and recorded in the summer of 2007, in Jay's home studio.


And so we reach the present. In September of 2007, Cody Armstrong came back to Argonautica to provide drums. The band is in need of another guitarist and bassist, and hopes to play many shows in the near future.
